Arch's epic drawing tutorials
All credit goes to them, i just compiled it here so i dont loose it.
Head and face
- You make an artist circle (a circle gone over multiple times so that it looks even-ish)
- Then a straight line from the top to however long you want the face to be (hairline included)
- And then some horizontal lines for the eyes (some people do one for the rough position, some do two for the
eye's length and some do 3 for the eyebrows)
- Then you go down with two lines on either side of the original circle for the Face that stops a bit before
the end of the length line
- And then you make the jawline as sharp as you want or rounded or whatever, but if you want the face to be
symmetric it should kind of connect at the middle
- And then you make the neck as thick or thin as you want and you have your head
- You draw the top of the eyes on the top line of the sketch head you made
- Then you add the inside of the eye
- Then the bottom line goes and you have simple eyes! You can color the inside if you want
- Then you do the eyebrows a bit over the eyes, which you can change for expressions
- Then the nose which for me is a triangle with a line because idk how to draw them
- Then the lips which are self explanatory they're just a line
- And the hair I do is pretty bad I kind of just make blobs around the head and hope they look good
- Then I like to add a weird shadow thing to the neck and some blush even if it looks cringe
Body
- You make this weird shape thing for the torso- the top sides are for the position of the top of the arm and
the middle top point is roughly for the neck
- Then the ass part that kind of came out small for me but that should be the area of the hips and the start
of the legs
- Then the legs I try to make them roughly the size from the shoulder blade part to the hips
- The first joint of the arms should be at the slimmest part of the waist (roughly)
- And the bottom should be around half the length of the leg part I don't know english anatomy language
sorry
- The bottom part of the legs should be kind of the same size as the other part but kind of longer
- Then I don't know how to describe the neck part but just like connect the shoulders and make a neck
- For the legs if you want them looking straight at the "camera" it's kind of a ╩ triangle and then a smaller
triangle and if you want them from the side it's a big circle and a small circle (I'll make another picture
after this that makes more sense)
- And the hands are another process altogether so in full body pictures I just make blobs and try to make them
look good
- Ok so side angle feet are just a big circle and a small circle, I'd let you know how to make them detailed
but idk how because I'm self taught and don't want to deal with explaining to my parents why I'm searching
up feet pics at 2am
Clothes
- Ok so start with your body and add a semi circle or a line wherever you want your collar to ge
- Then for the sleeves I usually end them around the joint, and if you left your sketch standing the torso
line should work as the seam you have in your clothes in that place
- For the trousers, I start at the hip and I make a straight-ish line, but if there's a place where the Thigh
comes in or out, I add that so it isn't just a straight line because that doesn't usually look good. If the
thighs don't really go out or in in a significant way, you should probably make them look a bit flared (so
like, flaring out a bit. I'll make a drawing showing you that after I finish)
- Then add a line wherever you want the shirt to end and the trousers to start. I make the beginner mistake of
always doing the same exact thing because it's what I know how to do, so I make diagonal lines, but you can
do straight ones and even end the pants and shirt higher or lower
- And then I add detail, be it lines for the seam, or darker pants and sleeves
- And here's the straight jeans
It's just straight down and then you do some extending at the bottom
